Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before. They are made of high-grade stainless steel. With metal braces, you have the option of adding colored elastics for a more unique and colorful smile.

Want some bling? Gold braces are made of stainless steel, and are coated in gold. Titanium braces look like metal braces, but contain no stainless steel or nickel at all. Gold and Titanium are materials which Dr. Jones sometimes uses on patients with certain sensitivities or toxicities.

Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. They are more brittle than their metal counterparts, however, so they tend to be used more on upper front teeth than on lower teeth.

"Clear braces" (such as Invisalign®) are a series of removable plastic retainers. Before you spend time and money on them, it's important for your doctor to explain their limitations to you. So please, ask Dr. Jones about them if you're interested!
